Belgium Beer sorbet

One day during diner, we didn’t finished our Duvel bottle and my husband gave me the challenge to make a beer ice cream.

I didn’t believe that it could be possible, but as I love challenges I just took it.
I found only one recipe and adapted it.
Ingredients:
    – 250ml of a tasty bitter belgium beer (a white beer would be perfect)
    – 4 soup spoons of honey
    – 150g of sugar
    – 2 egg whites
In a pan add the sugar, honey and beer and make a sirup.
Cool your mixture down, put the mixture in the fridge.
Whip your egg whites and mix it up with the sirup.
Pour it into the ice cream maker.
After the 45 minutes into the ice cream maker the mixture is still creamy and not icy at all.
No worries, poor it into a container and store it in the freezer. Check it every 6 or 12 hours for 3 days and mix it up again and again…
The alcohol needs a much lower temperature to freeze than water. So it need to stay longer in the freezer to freeze down.
Same when serving, it needs to be served quickly as it will melt fast. Actually we finished the ice cream before it had some chance to get harder.
This recipe was an experiential one, surprising but exceptional! Even if you don’t like beer try it and you gonna love it!
My friends loved it! My husband too.
